- I've been in either health care (ancillary clinical/health planning) or computer database management/programming/consulting for many years (often doing both). I was in the initial list of people and groups selected by Microsoft to beta test SQL 7's stack of products and spent several years consulting with Analysis Services. Later, I was in the first group to attend the week long BI labs at Microsoft. After 9/11, I returned back to a multi-hospital environment and the experiences of the last few years will form the basis for many of the dozen topics scheduled to be published, including the use of SQL 2008 products in full production since the beginning of the year. This includes the task of Database Administrator for Epic's Clarity for the last four years, using SQL Server as the storage product. I've been on the Advisory Council of Microsoft's Health Users Group for a few years and am finishing up as Chair on June 30, 2009. My intention is to return to the Education subcommittee. MS Hug hosts two technical sessions each year and I'll be providing assistance, recommending presentations that underscore the effective use or MS software and practices in a healthcare environment.
